Avalanche Education in Rocky Mountain National Park

CMS guide Roy Leggett recently taught another fleet of backcountry skiers and riders just what it takes to travel through avalanche terrain and return unscathed. The AIARE Level 1 course taught participants the skills they need to stay alive, including decision-making strategies, planning and travel techniques and comprehensive rescue, as well as what human factors are involved in avalanches. It was a bitter cold weekend in Rocky Mountain National Park, but the knowledge that Roy shares with his clients is well worth the cold toes and runny nose. For more info on our avy training click here

Here is a testimonial from one of Roy's students:

Hey there Roy,
Thank you again for a terrific learning experience! I think that all participants would agree that we walked away from the course with a much better understanding of avalanches, the frame-work for decision making, how to focus on the right questions and an observed understanding of Colorado snow characteristics. I feel much more safe in the backcountry and cannot wait to get out and apply what I learned!

Happy holidays and be safe out there!

Sincerely,
