Rocky Mountain National Park Raptor Closures

Each year, Rocky Mountain National Park initiates temporary closures in certain areas of the park to allow wildlife managers to monitor birds of prey and ensure that these raptors will be undisturbed during the breeding and nesting seasons. The following formations will be closed March 1 through July 31, 2009:

Twin Owls
Alligator Rock
Rock One
Batman
Sheep Mountain
Thunder Mountain - The Parish

These closures include the named rock formations and the areas extending 100 yards surrounding the base of the formation. This includes all climbing routes, outcroppings, cliffs, faces, ascent and decent routes and climber's access trails to the formation. These closures will be lifted or extended as conditions dictate.
